Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL) is the renewable energy subsidiary of Oando Energy Resources, part of the Oando PLC group of companies. OCEL has a mandate to invest in bankable and climate friendly energy solutions across the African continent to meet demand through the exploitation of green and renewable sources. With roots dating back to 1956, we have been in the energy value chain with a track record of operational excellence and investments in projects that proffer solutions to some of Africa’s energy challenges. As part of our strategy to contribute to Nigeria’s sustainability goals and consequently, Africa's, and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, we have developed a range of initiatives/projects including Sustainable Transport, Waste to Value and Gas Flare Reduction. Sustainable Transport Oando Clean Energy is championing the cause for EV adoption; ensuring the availability of affordable and easy to maintain EVs to Africans at large, whilst also ensuring accessibility of excellent charging infrastructure and after sales service. This aims to address the challenges of greenhouse effects and global warming by eliminating tail pipe emissions and reducing the harmful air pollutants ravaging our world. Waste to Value Oando Clean Energy is set to lead the net zero emissions charge by decreasing the amount of methane generated from illegal dumpsites and landfills. The implementation of waste to value systems for us is a high priority and the target is to produce energy and alternative fuel from waste through biochemical and thermochemical processes. Gas Flare Reduction Oando Clean Energy, through its affiliate, Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited (OERNL), has committed to reducing gas flaring within its operations. In the OERNL JV, the company has implemented a Zero Flare Program in which associated gas is used for domestic power generation and supplied to petrochemical and liquefaction plants resulting in a 92% flare reduction. By 2025, the JV aims to achieve zero flare from its facilities. This will see the JV acquire and install new compression, pipeline, and multiphase evacuation facilities as part of its strategy to reduce its CO2 emissions and promote cleaner environment.
