As an intergovernmental organization serving Canada, Mexico, and the United States, one of the current CEC efforts focuses on advancing North American collaboration to accelerate climate mitigation efforts, particularly in reducing methane and other Short-Lived Climate Pollutants from the waste sector. We are initiating a project to establish a platform for coordinated activities among these countries to enhance methane measurement and mitigation, leveraging evolving remote sensing technologies, including satellite data, for methane source detection. Our objectives include promoting best practices in methane management, such as organic waste diversion, methane capture, and leak detection and repair at landfills. |
