Description of Services: |
Shalin Finland is a development NGO promoting local solutions to challenges presented by environmental change and poverty.
The organization's projects focus on the use of alternative energy sources. Biogas units and wind turbines are built in schools, and local artisans are trained to maintain them and to build more units. The biogas units that have been built in schools have already reduced dependency on fire wood and inspired local people to get their own units for their households. With their newly acquired skill in building biogas units, the artisans have gained new job opportunities.
The aim of the Rescue Project is to reduce the strain on the ecosystem and promote renewal of natural resources. The slurry produced from biogas is used as a fertilizer. One of the main goals of the project is the training of artisans to maintain and build more biogas units. This way, the local economy gets a boost and new skills. |
