We are the largest user of Bagasse, about one million tonnes per year (sugarcane waste) for producing printing and writing paper in the world. We are generating around 20,000 cubic meter of biogas from Bagasse wash wastewater using UASB digesters having total 15,000 cubic meters (3 X 5000) capacity. The biogas is used in-house to replace 12 kL of fuel oil per day in lime kiln. Installation of this plant resulted in GHG emission reduction of around 60,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. The plant was implemented in two phase. The first phase was registered as CDM project in January 2006 and generates around 40,000 CERs per year and Second phase is under validation. |
