FICCI, India's apex business organization, is engaged in ongoing policy advocacy. FICCI has Committees on Environment, Agriculture, Hydrocarbons, Urban Development, Energy, engaged in several programmes, projects, policy work that have direct bearing on all M2M sectors. FICCI can leverage these sectoral committees and its large membership in these sectors to create greater awareness/outreach on M2M in India. FICCI, through its annual Environment Conclave, is trying to facilitate a sustainable waste management market in India, and networking with industry, urban local bodies, landfill developers and waste management companies, the key stakeholders in methane recovery projects. In March 2006, FICCI and USEPA organised the first Landfill Gas-to-Energy Workshop in India under Methane to Markets partnership. FICCI’s environment forum would help address policy gaps, technology interface, business linkages and public private initiatives for methane recovery/use projects in India. |
