Training on Best Practices for Landfill and Organic Waste Management Session 4: Evaluating Methane Emission Reductions and Other Benefits of Organic Waste Management Projects
31 October 2024
Location: Webinar
Event Details:
In 2024, the U.S. EPA, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank and in support of the aims of the Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Biogas Subcommittee, hosted a four-part training series: Best Practices on Landfill and Organic Waste Management. During the fourth virtual training on 31 October 2024, Evaluating Methane Emission Reductions and Other Benefits of Organic Waste Management Projects, speakers provided a comprehensive overview of protocols for the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of methane emissions and emissions reductions in the waste sector. Participants will be introduced to key tools for estimating emission reductions, including the Solid Waste Emissions Estimation Tool (SWEET) and the Anaerobic Digestion Screening Tool. Participants learned about the practical application of these tools, enabling them to effectively assess and report methane reductions from waste management projects.
