The Cross-border Conference on Improvement of Solid Waste Management aims to bring together professionals in the field of environmental protection, with a focus on solid waste management, from various countries. This will provide a platform for exchanging opinions, attitudes, best practices, and lessons learned. The conference will take place in Nikšic, Montenegro, on 5-6 April 2023. Participants from different countries will collaborate and discuss important topics related to gaps in solid waste management systems. They will also draw conclusions crucial for future work and improvement in this area. The Conference's agenda includes discussions on the current situation regarding waste management systems in Montenegro, BiH, and the region. Additionally, topics such as waste generation prevention, waste transformation into a resource, energy efficiency of waste management systems, biogas, European Union best practice examples, policies and approaches to waste management, international projects, and recommendations for solid waste system improvement will be covered.
Nick Elger, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will present on the Global Methane Initiative's work in Novi Sad, and will also highlight GMI resources.
